Birmingham fined $81,000 for pitch invasion

BIRMINGHAM (United Kingdom) - BIRMINGHAM have been fined 20,000 pounds, with a further 20,000 pounds suspended (S$80,770 in total), following a pitch invasion during their League Cup quarter-final victory over Aston Villa in December.

The club, who went on to win the title, accepted the charge of failing to ensure no spectators or unauthorised persons were permitted to encroach on to the pitch and were handed the punishment by an independent regulatory commission on Tuesday.
