LONDON - ENGLAND striker Wayne Rooney said on Thursday police had shown him documents indicating his phone may have been hacked.

Newspapers have reported that the Manchester United player is the latest of several public figures whose voicemail messages may have been intercepted by journalists at the News of the World. The tabloid wrote several exclusive stories about him in 2005 and 2006.
