LONDON - ENGLAND'S Football Association says Wayne Rooney has accepted a charge of using offensive, insulting and/or abusive language, but says the Manchester United striker has claimed the two-match automatic ban is 'clearly excessive.'

The charge follows United's victory over West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, when the England forward scored a rapid-fire hat trick before swearing into a television camera.
